Friday Favorites: Pillows

Welcome to Friday Favorites where each week 2 Sisters bring you their favorite home design and decor pieces (complete with shopping links)!!

So the two of us decided we wanted to feature one of our all time favorite accessories this week...throw pillows! Who doesn't like a good pillow?

Pillows have the ability to soften a look, add a shot of color or texture and just add a bit of style and swagger to any seating area. Oh, yea, and they're pretty comfortable.

ALI'S PICKS:

So I went looking for pillows for my new place and fell into a sort of Pillow Rabbit Hole. It was intense. But I came out the other side with several (no really, it's true, there's three) Polyvore sets dedicated to all the pillows I need to have in my life.  * To see the other sets check us out at 2 Sisters 2 Houses on Pinterest under the boards 'Awesome Bedrooms' and 'Kiddo Bedrooms'. And follow us while you're over there.

This first set, well, I want to make a million pillow forts and nests out of these beauties all over my living room and family room. The new couch upstairs is navy and pretty traditional, so it needs an injection of color and style and texture.

There is a lovely toile fabric that I will be making in pillow covers asap, as it's a gorgeous print that happens to feature a TARDIS and Dalek from Doctor Who...so traditional but whimsical and nerdy all at the same time. Obsessed.

Also, I'm obsessed with pillows that say things, typographic pillows are definitely a fave of mine.

But the one pillow that I can't get enough of and need to buy immediately is the bottom right corner lumbar pillow from World Market. It is going to look so fab next to my reupholstered wingback chairs.

TOP ROW: PS 2014 Collection from Ikea. Magical Thinking Tassel-striped at Urban Outfitters. Gray 'Home' at Lulu & Georgia. SECOND ROW: Toile de Jouy Blue fabric at Spoonflower.com. Chinoiserie Toile by MakingFabulous at Etsy.com. Wind and Sea in Caribbean Blue at Lulu & Georgia. THIRD ROW: DENY Purple 'With You' at Urban Outfitters. Ashore in Ink Blue at Lulu & Georgia. Brown Leopard Print by MakingFabulous at Etsy. BOTTOM ROW: Velvet Greek Key in Navy by MakingFabulous at Etsy. 'Hello' in Blue Velvet at Land of Nod. Natural Sari Honeycomb Lumbar at World Market.

TRACEY'S PICKS

I love all Ali's picks, of course. I especially like the blue "hello" pillow. I actually had to redo my set because I had it too. *Twinsies!* Sorry. Had to say it. It's a sister thing.

The pillows I chose all have texture and bold color choices, which is what I look for when it come to pillows. And yes, I'd throw them all in one room together. I say all throw pillows should be soft, squishy pieces of art you can nap on. If you collage on your wall, why not on your sofa? Go for it.

My fave of the bunch is the one with the Tiger Lily, as we had them in out backyard when I was growing up and they've always been my favorite.

Top row: Orange Lily from Cottage and Bungalow. Tie Dye Cushion from French Connection. Steven Alan Abstract Crewel in Golden Gate from West Elm. Middle row: Navy with Gold Sequins from AmoreBeaute on Etsy. Shannon Clark Swinging from purehome. Insignia 23 from CB2. Bottom row: Felt Flutter in Sour Apple from CB2. Trina Turk Floral Black Embroidered from Zinc Door. Stockholm from IKEA

All these picks are less than $100.00. Because whomever spends $100.00 on a frakkin' pillow needs to reprioritize immediately. I mean for real. The pillow belows costs $350.00.
